Travelyard only really cares about travel and so collects very little personal information. Where we do, we take good care of your information and make sure we comply with UK data protection legislation. As the privacy of all visitors to our Travelyard is important to us we have set out below the basis on which we collect and use your personal information.
Who are we?
We, the Travelyard occupants have incorporated a company to own this website and all its content and intellectual property which is called ES Communications Limited.
What personal information do we collect?
When you send us your suggested itinerary or recommendations, you fill in a form that gives us your name, email address and town/city. We may also ask you for your telepHome number, age and profession. If you decide to buy something from the website we may collect your financial information like your credit card details. If you decide to come on an adventure with us we will need to ask you much more information to help us prepare for the trip like your age, food requirements, and any medical condition. If you decide to ask us to help plan your holiday then you will fill in a form in which you provide detailed information about yourself so as to help us understand what you would like from a holiday. We recognise that such information is “sensitive personal data” as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998 and will ensure that it is looked after in accordance with the terms of that Act.
Why do we ask you for this information?
We need to know your full name, email address and where appropriate your telephone number in case we have any questions about the content you provide us. If we ask for your age and profession it is because we are keen to know who the visitors to our Travelyard are so that we can better target our content to you. If we obtain your financial information from you it will be to process a payment you wish to make to us. If you ask us to help plan your holiday or decide to come with us on one of our overseas trips we will need as much information as possible in order to plan a holiday that is relevant to you, or to prepare to take you travelling in out of the way places.
How do we use your personal info?
We hold your information for the purposes for which you have provided it. We do not provide your information to third parties unless we have contracted them to provide some or all of the services you have asked for, as part of selling our business, or if we are obliged or permitted by law in particular when trying to stop any disruptive behaviour. From time to time these service providers may be outside the European Economic Area in countries that do not have the same standards of protection for personal data as the UK. We will however use every reasonable effort to ensure sufficient protections are in place to safeguard your personal info.
Information provided over the internet
Please remember that the internet is not a secure means of communication. We cannot accept any responsibility for any unauthorised access to your personal information when communicated over the web.
Information Requests
You have a right to ask for a copy of your information (for which we charge a small fee) and to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in your personal information (which is free). When you give us information about another person like your friend or partner, you confirm that they have appointed you to act for them, to consent to the processing of their personal data, including sensitive personal data and to the transfer of their information abroad where necessary.
